T-P article today says Beckwith wanted to play LB but has "backed off that stance." He's listed at 6'3", 225 lbs. Why in the world wouldn't LSU play him at LB? I don't understand the preference for smallish DE's. Play the kid at LB and let him blitz the passer from there.

I certainly expect he begins at LB. First of all, I think he has real talent for the position. Plus, I do not see him being as good of a prospect at DE than any of our 4 D-End signees from yesterday.

Granted, if Herron and Bower put on some serious weight and get moved inside, then we might be onto something.

Have you seen the Chavis defense? We play speed at LB. He's only gonna put on wt once he starts working out with Moffit. We most likely will not have a 6'3" 260lb LB playing in a Chavis scheme.

He's athletic to play anything. I think he's our most athletic player on defense personally. He doesn't mind playing DE but he prefers LB. LSU will give him his shot but if doesn't perform, he will move to DE.

I honestly thought he would've been a better fit in Bama's defense and a bit surprised he didn't pick them over us. It seems like his natural instincts and athletic ability are better suited for a jack LB. The problem is his weight and how he'll be able to carry it. Can't see a 260lb in Chavis scheme...

He kinda reminds me of Denzall Devall from last year? Only I think he's a bit more athletic than him.
