I know that JOB is a better all around player but he didn't have his best game last night. So why not play Tuba some especially when he did so well in the first half?
100% agree. I thought Piero did a great job last night. I think when we play teams that don't have a legit scoring threat down low he can be a major contributor. We have that again this week against Alabama so we will see if he gets some good PT.

Job had a frustrating night. He just couldn't finish strong. Seemed weak at goal but he was working really hard going up towards the goal. Normally when he struggles he will start fading away or taking it outside. Coach jj kept telling him to go to goal everytime job looked frustrated. Even on when struggling I think its a good sign he didn't start settling like he would in past.
And those 2 fts at end will.be huge for his confidence this point on
I can't stop applauding how much better he has gotten passing from the post. He almost looks for the double team just to find an open guard backside.
And for everyone saying they just wish he could go a game without having a miserable ast : TO ratio, he had a great 2 : 1 this game.
His shot didn't fall, and he didn't get a ton of rebounds, but he blocked out and guards got the boards.

That's extremely offensive. Not humorous at all.

I'd like to rephrase this a little if I can. When he goes to the goal strong he's successful, and he doesn't do that often. It's typical for him to either bounce the ball when he doesn't need to, fade away b/c he's scared to go up strong, or run around out of control and take a terrible shot. The guy is like a big puppy that either doesn't know or doesn't trust *his strength and ability. So in my mind he always "struggles". His points come from easy put backs and/or free throws with a stong basket sprinkled in here and there. I hope he figures it out.

Agree with your assessment completely. I posted the following last night:
I'm happy about the win, but there is no way on earth that our 5'11" point guard should have a team high 7 rebounds and our 6'9" forward/ center only gets 5!!
JOB just seems to have no appreciation of his size and strength. It's like he doesn't try to use it.
Once again we failed to beat our opponent on 2 chance shots.
JOB and Jalen need to fight for those.
Disappointed in the post play. but glad JOB got the clutch free throws.
Go get Alabama Tigers!!

Yep, and my intentions aren't to bash JOB, I just think he needs to play his size out there. Tuba is just learning the game and he at least tries to back the post down and go in strong. I understand that JOB gets double teamed a lot, but when he doesn't he still takes a passive approach offensively. I've seen him play strong (Kentucky last year) before, and I hope to see it a little more often. When you come out during the starting line up making motions implicating you're gonna eat the opposition up by having a "phantom dinner", you need to do just that. The bigger guys coming in next year will help him out quite a bit, so that's something to look fwd to.

In jobs defense on the boards he didn't play much 1st half he didn't play much.cause of foul trouble. Btw his 2nd foul was bs.
And the vandy bigs didn't kill us even with their height advantage. I think our bigs did a pretty good job boxing out allowing our guards to get it.
Also vandy took a lot of jumpers which led to long rebounds which also effects numbers.
And ya jobs safety dribble is a bad habit but I was referring to a few good drives that once he left his.feet it was like it lost a strength but atleast it was going at rim.

While like last night his points came from ft and easy layups not all his games in his gold.stretch were easy buckets. I think 4 games of double digit boards in a row is a sign of using his.strength. the 2nd half of UK he played toe to toe with whoever was put on him

I agree, but he can definitely be more productive by being more aggressive on offense. No problems w/ his rebounding, only w/ his progression near the goal on offense. While his double doubles are a great accomplishment, he could've easily done more by not turning the ball over by dribbling and fading around and from the hoop. If he just gets it and goes up strong like we've seen him do occasionally, he gets us some more points on the board, and if you've been watching this year like I have, every point counts! I'm very impressed w/ his leadership out there and I hope the whole group continues to learn and grow. It's very exciting to see a team play together after these past few down years. I've been going to all of the games since 88' and this is one of the funner teams I've watched, win or lose. It's nice to see a team that never gives up.

He made a nice 15 foot jumper in the second half.

He made a beautiful pass late as well to a cutting Coleman out the double team and.Coleman just.dropped it

a one point win again. how about that?
Posted on 2/7/13 at 10:59 am to nosaj56
Vandy got hot in the end to bring it back down. We were up between 7-10 the whole second half till late. And Vandy never had a possession to tie or win.

I am starting to feel like LSU has a really good shot at Bama. They don't really have much threat inside game, and have really struggled to score much this year.
If LSU gets hot shooting, they could easily win at Bama.
If they did, we would have to re-evaluate the goals of this team, because we would be in a very good situation moving forward. We would have some very winnable games to follow. Scary to think that this team could actually make some noise.

Agreed the Bama game could be the thrust through game or the "we're just going to meet expectations" game.
I predicted 6-12 to 8-10 to start the year, if we lose @ Bama I think we fall within that. If we beat them, probably exceed it.
