yeah I'd pick it over Notre Dame if I was looking for something like that.
Stanford is better from an academic and location standpoint than ND, but that's pretty much it. Besides the tradition/prestige of ND, ND's football facilities, and its religious affiliation (which is part of ND's appeal for some prospects/parents), ND also draws more people to its Spring Game than Stanford does hosting the Pac 12 Championship. Nobody gives a crap about football at Stanford. People (students, alumni, and subway alumni) care a ton at ND. You'll get attention and buzz.
