His iipa will be the best beer produced in LA and probably the Southeast. High hopes for that beer.

Very exciting. Loved everything I've ever had from parish. It's sad I still haven't toured the brewery and I live only about ten minutes away. Now that I'm off early on Fridays I'll need to go soon.

My body has been prepared for beer for a long time.

I'm tempted to agree with you.

Word around the blogoshpere is the Envie should be available in bottles and kegs real soon.
Also, they are about to start putting out some 750 mL bottles...not just the Grand Reserve, but regulars.
The initial two recipes look to be the Farmhouse IPA and "Blackalicious" a black IPA.
Great news, looking forward to trying all these. The Farmhouse IPA sounds great

It's really good, but I think the DIPA is better. Rondo, is he still planning on calling it L'Autre Femme?
I haven't tried the Black IPA, but I thought he had a Belgian Dubbel lined up after the Farmhouse IPA.

Yes. I know this because he gave me the original tap handle for L'Autre Femme because it was listed as an IPA not a IIPA which is what it will end up being.

Right on. I need to get a tap handle from him... not that I use them on my kegerator, but it would still be cool.

nothing, based on the two beers that have been releases, leads me to believe that this statement is anywhere close to accurate

So, you didn't care for the Grand Reserve?
I think it's already in the discussion for best LA beer, and the L'Autre Femme is better.

You are referring to Canebrake and Envie? Or Canebrake and Grand Reserve?

I can't think of another English Barleywine that I'd rather drink.

quote:no. i enjoyed it for the style. compares well with Treehugger by Live Oak on the sweet side of the already sweet barleywine section

best in the southeast is a whole different story with Good People, Cigar City, Sweetwater, Terrapin, etc. etc.

Ehh Cigar City is the only one of those that really stands out for me. Sure the other ones make good well above average beer, but their mainstays aren't what I would call world changing.
If his IIPA production batch ends up like the bottle we drank for the Super Bowl, then there is no doubt in my mind that it will be better than anything that Terrapin, Good People, or Terrapin make.
I know that is a bold statement but of all the brewers in LA Andrew is the most capable of putting quality beer out. His Grand Reserve made it to the final round of GABF this year for its style, so while it didn't medal it did make some waves. Now that he has the space to produce high end beers I think we will start talking more about what a great brewery Parish will be/is.

Yeah my local beer store just changed to a distributor out of NOLA and he said alot of new beers will be coming
this makes me happy. hocus pocus? or the one downtown run by the pub people?

I guess I'm in the minority that doesn't really see their hype.
I really like some of the stuff Terrapin has done, though.
And Good People's Snake Handler DIPA is very nice. I think it's a good measuring stick for the Parish DIPA.
If Parish is in the discussion with those breweries though, it's a win.

I was thinking he was leaving florida out of "south east" because Hunahpu is prob the best in the SE and doubt it lose its title soon.

I think they get hype due to their sheer number of specialty beers they produce. And because I really like Jai Alai.
I have a few select beers from Terrapin that we need to try soon.
