I had a buddy buy one of those during forestry camp. He used it for half of the day and left it at the camp after lunch. It was just a huge pain to lug around and didn't even work that well.

Best machete I have ever used was my pow pows that he got issued in Korea. The blade was thicker than any other one I have ever used. It was the perfect hardness because it sharpened fairly easily and held an edge really well. After 50 years, it got worn down to maybe 3/5 of the original height, but still worked very well.

Dropped it in the bayou one day and spent 3hrs diving trying to find it. My dad wouldn't let me get out of the water until I did.

In addition to a good, heavy machete, get a hatchet like Fiskars or something
