Well St. Paul's baseball is a joke
One of the best LSU players in recent memory came from there.

the staff does want to take time to coach him up?
If that's the case, they're even lazier than I already thought they were.

It's from his high school teams web page. It was meant for people to see it. It's not like he scanned in a yearbook photo.

True, true and he was the outlier.
But doesn't change what I said about the coaching staff (if you can even call it that) over there now. The old guard was completely different.
Talent can bring one's self pretty far in a more individualistic sport like baseball, or basketball (as opposed to football).
The kid had got talent, so it is nothing against them, but LSU coaches can't start from scratch with kids, even if they do have talent.

Haha actually no. I figured out who you were in another thread. I taught in the same department as your mom. Graduated a year before you.

Gotcha.
Just seeing a high school kid's pic pop up just gave me a weird feeling, even searching that out

I have seen him play. He isn't close to Ty Ross or Micah Gibbs defensively. He is all offense and doesn't move well at all. He will have to play 1st or DH in college. I think LSU made right move in this case.

My son goes to school with him.
He will be a very good college player and should be highly drafted.
Friend of mine coaches him and from what I heard he had a bad experience with the coaches at LSU at a camp there (don't know specifics) as a sophomore and came back saying no way would he go to LSU. Had offers from Arizona, Stanford, GA Tech, FSU, etc so to say LSU is better off without is just being a homer.
I think his defensive skill is underestimated by the post above. I've seen him hit HR's into the top of the trees in left center at SPS and he was hitting it out in Center (420) as a Freshman. I've never seen anyone else hit the top of the trees in left center before. There is a road between the field and trees.

There used to be a bunch of guys that would routinely hit them that far. Not to beat a dead horse, but those kids were from the old coaching staff, before the change over a few years back. They just don't get any coaching now. A lot of politics over there, as well.

Saw Mike Fontenot hit it over the center field fence, over the street and into a parking lot next to a dumpster, when he was a Jr..... Wow, just Wow! was my only response.

It would have been after you left, if he is who I think he is.
