Whoever said or expected this is either ignorant or isn't aware of the current state of college baseball. Career .315 hitter in this day and age is great. If we had all .315 hitters in our lineup, we'd be instant contenders for the SEC regular season crown even before we address pitching.

He had a great freshman year with a surprisingly high batting average, but even after that, I can't remember a single person expecting great superstar/pro-career types of things from him. In his 4 years, he was #6, #5, #5, & #6 on the team in batting average, which seems pretty stable. His last year was sort of a disappointment (especially in conference play), but on the other hand, the same exact thing happened to Austin Nola, so deal with it.

Overall, a very solid career, and although he didn't quite reach his potential his senior year, for his first 3 years, he was about as good of a hitter as you could have possibly expected from the guy. That being said, I have little doubt that people will be getting him confused with Hollander in about 3 years' time. But even more importantly...
