Myself and a buddy of mine bought a utility trailer a while back to haul our shite to and from the hunting camp. Well we have pussy footed around and have yet to get the trailer actually put into our names. My questions is will both of us need to be present at the DMV?

If the Bill of Sale shows both of you as purchasers, yes. If it only shows one name then that person will have to be there.

Never saw this done for two though. Assume its no different than a husband and wife though and if both are listed both are needed I believe.

Okay. Thanks fellas. Any idea if I will have to pay a penalty for waiting so long to transfer it?

The wording makes a big difference when it comes time to sell as well. If it says John and Mary Smith both have to sign off to sell. If it says John or Mary Smith only one has to sign off to sell.

I was late on my last one and I want to say it was only a few dollars for a month or two over.

What if the trailer was bought out of state and the buyer & seller can't be present at the same time. what happens in this case?

ha yeah, but if something was to go happen on the highway, like a wreck, then it would be a probelm.

Just call the notary and explain. Have one party show up one day and sign over the title. Leave it there until the buyer can go and pick it up.
