I know and agree with another poster on "why should they change this now just for the Big12"
But at the same time, I don't know why the NCAA feels you must have 12 to do so. Just another example of too many rules, IMHO FWIW.

because if you have 12 teams you can't play every one. Its not like they just added the rule, it was always there, Roy Kramer just took advantage of it and expanded to 12.
If the Big XII wants a CCG, they need to add 2 more teams, its pretty simple.
