What's the difference in "white evangelicals" and "white mainline protestants"?

Mainline protestants are usually your Episcopalians, Methodists, Baptists, and others who claim a denomination. These people also tend to be rational and reasonable in religious discussions.
The "evangelicals" tend to be non-denominational and talk about bullshite like the "war on Christmas", etc. Sometimes people who are in a particular denomination will lean this way, but for the most part, these folks are those who claim that because they have a "relationship with God", you can't call what they do "religion". Your televangelists and megachurch preachers also tend to fall into this category.
