I enjoyed the series all in all but the historical absurdities of this last season pretty much ruined it for me. Marcus Crassus as a master swordsman who sparred with gladiators? Gaius Julius Caesar as some kind of scruffy surfer boy wild man? The T&A and gory combat scenes kept it entertaining but the writing was laughable. Its more in line with Xena: Warrior Princess than HBO's Rome.
A Caesar spinoff from this team and with this actor would be an abomination.

That was epic and gut wrenching.

quote:If they had did the show as close to realism as you want, they would have had no viewers and the show would have been cancelled long ago. This is the entertainment business, man. Everyone knows the story of the real Spartacus, but when telling a tale which is what most of these shows are like the Rome show you mentioned, and which I also enjoyed. You wanna semi tell the story, but in a fascinating, unique way that most of us wish had really happened. I think they accomplished that with flying colors.
