Yes but it's still gambling on a game he's involved in.
So he's managing and he bet on them to win, a guy comes to him saying he has a sore arm, hurt back, whatever... Well Pete tells him to suck it up and play because he wants them to win this one particular game. Or it's a random game in the middle of the season and a particular middle reliever has thrown 3 days in a row. Generally he'd get a day or two off to rest and stay healthy for the whole year. Well Pete throws him the next day because he bet on them and needed a win.

Doesn't matter who he bet for, it's still wrong and detrimental to the game

And still, Welker's wife made an embarrassing comment(assuming she of Welker are capable of embarrassment) by criticizing a guy whose team just knocked him out of the Superbowl.
