You can get a S&W 15-22 for $450 shipped, while some dedicated uppers cost $400. I would go with a 15-22 and work on a .300 BLK upper or a 5.45 upper

I paid $499 today for 15-22 but I walked out of academy with it in hand and did not have to wait.
