I have always believed that a deer dropped where is was shot will taste better than a deer that runs after being shot. I am not talking about 20-30 yards and falling dead but having to track it. Am I crazy or do others think that as well?

Both taste the same to me, Ive dropped them in their tracks and ran them for miles with a dog, same wonderful goodness to me.

There are many things that affect the quality of the meat in the animal you choose to take. But yes, generally, an animal that is very stressed prior to being killed is going to be less tasty.

Honestly though, depending on how you cook it, you probably won't even be able to tell the difference.
