Elite being designated for a single season doesn't strike me as the best way to gauge perception of what a fanbase believes their team should measure up to. In my opinion, the only elite seasons in recent memory are 09' Bama, 04' USCheat, and 00' Miami.

On the other hand, I thoroughly believe that a program can be elite without accomplishing an elite season.

You can view anything that is being compared and is more than a few as elite.

You can easily view a single season, with 124 teams and choose those that had an elite season.

The definition of elite is not one, it is a small few or small group.

I basically want to know what teams have to do, not only be their own standards, but by a general consensus to have their season considered elite in the context of that single year.

If we define elite by winning your conference, finishing in the top ten and winning a BCS game, then those teams, this year are:

Bama
Stanford
Florida State

Simple as that.

I just want to know what type of parameters you can use. A top ten finish is one thing, but winning that conference title or a BCS game is another thing.
