Then the Stars took the right trade. Looking at his numbers, Koko tore up the WHA, but he got schooled in the KHL this year. Over 20 games and only 2 goals? Not what you want to see from a center scoring prospect on the wider rinks of Europe. Not impressed by his profile at all. Morrow has serious issues, but he at least has the potential to be a top 4 defenseman.

Oh, and I'm not ignoring you CanFan. Forgot to answer you last night. Is Phaneuf overpaid? Sure. So is pretty much every player who signed a free agent contract in their prime. The reason you can afford him is because you are underpaying other assets who do not yet have leverage to get those deals. But Phaneuf largely lives up to his deal, though Toronto fans are conditioned to never be happy with anything. The Leafs are having their best season in some time (yes, I know they're on a losing streak, but I'm pretty confident they will make the playoffs), so maybe the Leafs should just enjoy it and worry about firing all over their players and starting from scratch come the offseason.

Because, man. The Eastern Conference pretty much flat out sucks this year (aside from Pitt and Boston). This is a good year to have a mediocre team that just scratches its way into the postseason lottery.

Penguins going all-in. Traded two 2nd rounders for Douglas Murray. Murray is a slow, plodding d-man who is pretty much worthless in the offensive zone, but he's a big, mean guy who will knock the crap out of you. That seems like a move made specifically for a potential series with the Bruins.
