Yeah, I don't really think that Hannibal Lector (at least from Silence of the Lambs), is a villain. He has a villainous nature to be sure, but he's not the antagonist of the story.

sounds like you are the same page as I am. We had a discussion on here about Michael Corleone. IMO, all villains are antagonists, but not all antigonists are villains. and not all protagonists are heros.
