I will say the reason I started carrying was an incident in the middle of Hammond.

Went to Taco Bell at 2am, busy intersection. I was in the right lane, there was an empty left lane, and a car full of people in the turning lane. All of us were stopped at a light.

Was playing with my phone and looked up and the light was green, started to take my foot off the brake and heard my drivers side rear door handle as someone tried to open it. (All doors lock automatically) I hit the gas and went straight and looked back as one of the guys ran back into the car in the turning lane. They turned and sped off.

I was pretty taken shocked at how quickly the entire thing went down. Another reason I will never carry without a round in the chamber. I may sound like a broken record, but you cant rack if you are engaged with someone, if someone hops in your car, or who knows what.

Completely agree.

Sometimes new CC'ers have to carry with an empty chamber just to see that the gun won't fire itself. Once they get over that small hurdle, it's best to chamber a round.
