What I am hearing is a split is coming for football only. The private schools will not leave the LHSAA because they will be leaving all their districts over 1 sport. All their other sports can still compete for their usual state titles. The football teams districts will remain in place for regular season play. Also not every select school is a private school. Some select non- private schools are not breaking from the LHSAA. The select schools don't like the separate football playoffs but there isn't much they can do. They make up only 30% of the LHSAA. If 20-25% of the schools want to completely leave the LHSAA over separate playoffs in 1 sport then let them go. My guess is they will stay.

Public Schools have the vote! This is a fact...

We are going to see the private schools try and kill the legislation with amendments to force a "tabling" of the issue at 9:00 am.

Here are some statistics on why the whole split should happen according to public schools.

A. Boys: Over the past 10 years private school outside of football have won around 60% of the state titles in all sports

B. Girls: Over the past 10 years 67% of all state championships have gone to private schools

Note: I am very torn on the issue and am only trying to share what's going on behind closed doors

Also, there are around 78 private schools that play football in Louisiana. I think if the private schools lose this vote the LHSAA will be in real danger. The private schools would be expected to still play the public schools but there is some real venom in the air headed into Friday.

In my opinion if the split happen the private schools will look to form a new association over time.

This is completely short-sighted, IMO. I can't believe they would vote for this without knowing what schools will be affected and what the consequences will be.
