It absolutely lumbered to an end. The Australian cowboys were worthless and the final shoot-out was beyond hokie. It should have ended with the dinner scene.

I don't know. I thought this as well, but on my second viewing I really liked the Australian scene. The ride off on the horse gives an image of heroism and accomplishment. The last thing we remember is Steven saying Djangos story will end as a slave, but this scene squashes that statement. Also the slave in the cage that gazes at him as he rides off, once despising Django, now aw struck and proud. I thought that was pretty cool. Probably could end on that scene as he rides away.

It should have ended with the first shootout in Candyland with the end result of the final shootout.
