Well, that team was still made up mostly of Shula's recruits. Remember, Bama didn't even have a single player drafted in the NFL after the previous season. Les Miles had seven full recruiting classes under his belt so of course he would have a lot more talent and depth to work with than Saban did that year.

I agree with this. That Alabama team wasn't as good as their record. They were overachievers, but people have a hard time accepting the fact that Alabama had inferior talent that year and got where they were because of great coaching.
