Barca still owes Arsenal money for Cesc and Song.
They still owe a tiny amount for Cesc, £5m max. He was sold for £30m worth up to £35m. That is very close to what he was worth.

Also, Barça supposedly is adamant about not selling.
I do think they probably want to find a nice destination for Alexis, however.

It is the principle involved. Villa wants to go to Arsenal. We have been fair in dealing our players to them. They refuse to do what their own player wants. fricking joke.

Sometimes it's more than principle. We don't know the whole story, but if Barca don't feel like they can replace Villa in this window then you can't expect them to let him go. Arsenal has proven this point.
Selling isn't always the right answer.

He is rarely playing for them. And they still owe us money for 2 players. It is nothing but bullshite. We have been fair and never had to take a loan to cover our payroll like they have had to do.

Messi - 33 goals in 20 games
Cesc - 6 goals in 17 games
Villa - 5 goals in 7 games
He's their 3rd highest goal scorer. He's obviously a backup, but will be important once the fixtures start rolling in once CL get going again. It's easy to see why Barca don't want to let him go for pennies.
They paid £25m up front for Cesc + £1m per season for the rest of his contract. What is bullshite about that? I don't know the details of the Song deal.
I don't see what Arsenal fans are upset about. The board/Wenger dicked around for a month and decide in the last two days that they want Villa. I can see how they can feel slighted a bit, but people need to realize that selling isn't always the right thing to do.
See the Torres/Carroll situation.

You have euros and pounds switched up. For a top 10 player in the world, at his age, and his contract (was locked up for the considerable future) they got a steal.
eta: i see in a later post you corrected your figure. sorry, i was catching up.

Song was and is the only one that made absolutely zero sense to me. It was like Wenger sold him out of spite. fricking stupid.
And we didn't decide we wanted Villa in the last two days. We asked about him prior to this. Barca isn't and won't sell. I don't blame them. Doubt he goes to Citeh either but they would be willing to pay through the nose which might possibly cause Barca to consider it.
Any emergency left backs out there??????

He was sold for £30m, right? £25m up front, £1m per year until 2016 and an extra £5m if Barca win the CL a couple times or something like that.
His "market value" may have been closer to £40m, but that goes out the window when his destination is limited to a single team. Sure, theoretically, he could have been sold to Chelsea/City for an extra £10m, but #1 he wouldn't have left Arsenal for either club and #2 Arsenal wouldn't sell him to either club. So £30m with that massive chunk up front was a pretty fair price.

Arsenal was slow doing business. You get the point. And then when they did enquire, they "offer" half what Barca want for him. Had they begun talks as soon as the window opened, this could be a very different scenario.
The only reason they sell him to City is if they pay enough for them to get a quality replacement. Villa is still at or very near world class. His scoring record this season speaks for itself. It may upset the Arsenal fans, but Barca can't just let a player like that leave for pennies late in the window.

Gibbs..
The rest of the shite is terrible. Villa is UCL tied and wants to play for Arsenal and they still owe us money for Cesc and Song. They are a shite organization and I will always hate them.

Fulham linked with ajax DM Eyong Enoh and also for a loan move for Urby Emanuelson from AC Milan. Also a six-month loan for PSV midfielder Stanislav Manolev is in the works.

Emanuelson's loan move from Milan to Fulham is complete. Will give us some good wide attacking options and he can play anywhere on the left.

I thought it was 30m (split into two payments), Cesc waived some fees I think he was entitled to, we have ROFR if they choose to sell, and Barca promised not to come after us about Toral and Bellerin.
My disdain for Barca aside, glass, I don't blame them for not selling him at this point. He won't go to City either. Shame, because it means it won't happen ever for us. Too old for us to give a big, 3 or 4 yr deal to in the summer IMO. Money better spent elsewhere.
I have a feeling we buy someone today, but have no idea who.
