Look, I'm as frustrated about the loss as anyone but and yes some improvements need to be made (on both sides of the ball) before next season, but the program is not in decline. The sky is not falling. Going off your steak analogy, this season is the equivalent of asking for your steak to be cooked perfectly to a medium rare and getting it slightly more toward medium. Do you complain and ask for a new steak? Probably, but you don't demand the chef be fired because the steak wasn't exactly up to your demanding standards.

I don't recall saying anywhere in there I want to see Miles fired. I'd like to see the entire offensive staff replaced, and a new DB coach, and I'd like Miles to relinquish any play-calling duties he might currently have.

But even if he was fired, a coaching change isn't a death knell. You mention Nebraska. How about Ohio State going from Tressel to Urban? Florida going from Urban to Muschamp and bouncing back to an 11 win regular season in only 2 years? Stanford going from Harbaugh to Shaw and staying right at the same level? Oregon going from good under Belloti to outstanding under Kelly?

I don't think he will be fired though, but LSU will slowly decline relatively as programs like Tennessee, Auburn, and Ole Miss rebound and it gets harder to win week after week. Offensive recruits will look elsewhere because they know they won't get a chance to shine at LSU. We will slip to 7 or 8 win a year status, and eventually a change will happen, years later than it should, and a new coach will have to rebuild the program and convince recruits that LSU is where they want to be all over again.

To complete the steak analogy, if I kept going to that restaurant and they kept giving me steak cooked incorrectly, I'd probably quit going there. Which is close to where I am with LSU football right now.
