Pretty solid. I'd probably swap Ramos and Ramires for better players though.

These two and Xavi are the three most dubious imo.

Iker isn't even the starter at RM.

Ramires is my only problem with this XI.

He's very underrated IMO. It's not surprising that most people don't pay attention to how good he usually is.

He's good, no doubt, but I don't think he's Best XI in the World good.

Ramires is a wonderful player and the exact kind that every team needs (especially one with tons of other attack minded play makers because he will get back and do the dirty work) and maybe that's exactly why he was chosen but there are definitely other soccer players better than him.
For me Valencia is deadly out there on the right. Very underrated imo.

I don't know the background of this XI. I don't know if it is saying "best", because Ramires wouldn't belong then. But if it is tactics and other variables into consideration, he fits very well.

He isn't. There are two players on Chelsea's squad I would put in that spot before him. Not to mention Valencia, Silva, Navas, Robben, Sanchez.

True. This would be a good team on the field.

Robben
Unless it's the left foot XI, I don't think this guy belongs. It would be nice if Dandy provided a link describing how this team was selected.

It's their best players of the year I'm fairly sure.

If Barca-Real dominates like in 2011, our paper's World XI has noticeably changed from one year to the next. Only four players maintain their place, namely the three finalists for the Ballon d'Or 2012 - Messi, CRon, and Iniesta - plus Xavi. On the other hand, Casillas, Lahm, Ramos, Kompany, Alba, Alonso, and Ramires dethroned Neuer, Dani Alves, Vidic, Pique, Marcelo, Busquets, and David Silva.
"A world that moves" : in Thursday's "L'Equipe," you will find details on the performances of the 2012 World XI, explanations of the choices for each player, an anthology of surprising stats, a reminder of the three previous ideal teams from "L'Equipe," as well as details of the 2012 vote item by item.

See that amazing French-to-English translation, ladies? Make sure Cwil wins this Swagotelli Award.

Outside of Ligue 1, do French viewers just watch Barca-Real and UCL?
For some reason, I feel like they threw in Lahm and definitely Ramires because of their UCL performances, and Kompany because of his co-EPL-winning header last year. I'm not arguing with Lahm or Kompany because they are at the top of their respective positions. Ramires was bizarre though.
And it's hard to knock Xabi Alonso, but I would have definitely considered Pirlo at CM over him for this particular year.
