You're actually very right. I guess I'm also uninformed. The majority of my vinyls are actually my dads from when he was younger, so I'm wondering if those will always have that classic sound regardless of the player. The newer vinyls I buy, I wouldn't mind sounding clean or having the imperfect sound you speak of.

And after browsing Needle Doctor for a little while, I had no clue there were so many options. Pretty overwhelming, and I have no idea whats good and whats not, besides whatever the price says

This seems like a pretty legit setup all in all. But again, I'm very uninformed. Any suggestions?

It took me awhile and a lot of talking with those guys that run the site but I finally settled on the music hall mmf 5.1 turntable and bellari vp130 preamp. I'm sure most of those setups will play nicely
