Posted by brass2mouth Well if this upper and your DD upper aren't fitting, seems you have an issue with the lower.
Ill just take it to daves in the am I guess.

Have you tried just popping the pins back and forth? Do they move freely on their own if so or are they difficult To move?
I know its random, just trying to throw ideas at you.

Do you have a stripped lower laying around ? Could pit the upper on it and see if the holes are lining up. They might be lining up, just fitting really tight.

Holes line up perfectly on stripped lower

On an assembled lower you can only get one pin right ?

Yup. I can get front or rear but not both. I even tried tapping it in with a mallet and it didn't budge.

i was told from a qualified expert shooting ar's this weekend that the bottom of your butt stock needs to be on your collar bone when shooting, basically most of your rifle stock is off your body up there. Does everyone else shoot like this?
I would say no. When shooting with Iron Sights I was taught, by a guy in BDU's with a This We'll Defend patch, cheek to stock, nose to charging handle. When shooting with a scope when you raise the rifle the scope should come easily into view, with no shadow, allowing you to see the target through the scope. The relationship between cheek weld, eye relif and trigger pull is dependent on the person and proper fit between scope and rifle and therefore different from person to person.

Boot Camp:
Thumbscrew-put your thumb in the top screw hole on the buttstock
High pocket shoulder- put the buttstock into your shoulder with your thumb still in the screw
grab air- put you arm out leaving the buttstock where it was
high firm pistol grip- get that grip as high as possible
I dont really remember the rest, that was 10 years ago.
I do know the buttstock is definitely high when I shoulder the gun.

If you figure it out man, post the update. I'm curious as to wth it could be.

quote:Will do. I read the link you posted but that guy was having a different issue. My lower isn't tight, the lugs slip right in (twss). It seems like when I push one pin in, it throws it off just enough to now allow 2nd pin to slide through.

Yeah that was the closest I could find for you ,a figured you could give it a once over and see if any of it could help you.
I don't remember if it was that link or not, but there was a buy that posted he had a similar issue and ended up just machining out the hole on the upper a little and it fixed his problem.

Still no solution to the pin problem ?

quote:I went see Glenn from red jacket, he now has a shop here in Lafayette, and he seems to think the lower is causing the main problem. I contacted the guy the lower came from and he's gonna check it out and send a new one if needed.

The upper also fits on lowers very tightly. Glenn was able to get the upper on a lower he had but it took a little work. Between the lower being off and the upper being tight, it's a clusterfrick. I'm gonna start with getting the lower seen about and go from there.

Btw, if y'all need work done or looking for specialty items, check out Glenn's shop in Scott. Really nice setup. They have a fb site too
