Joining a conference where their closest confernce mate is 470 miles away and fighting 22 other teams for a bid is better than their current situation?

They should cherry pick a couple from the A-10 and maybe Horizon League. Apparently these Big East basketball schools makes most of their money from their tourney appearances/games. If the're still a 5-6 bid league every year they'll be in a good situation but if they take everyone from the A-10 they're watering down their tourney money.

If they just stuck with Catholic schools, they could go anywhere from 8 to 16 teams all in roughly the same geographic area and still maintain a high level of basketball play. They would probably be wise to stop at about 12 though to maximize on both fronts, keeping deadweight teams and too far flung teams out.
