I've loved LSU for the athletics for years, but the education I got there was garbage. I had self-taught myself much more about my field as a hobbyist from age 12-18 that I just dropped out. I wasn't going to waste more years of my life and thousands of dollars just for a piece of paper.

That's not to say that that I want to watch the University be damaged. I just never saw it as anything special to begin with. It's hard to get upset about it.

And the education I got there was outstanding. It prepared me for success at a top tier law school and helped me land a great job. It was also instrumental in my social development.

I am guessing if you learned your trade as a "hobbyist" in middle and high schools, a college degree wasn't important for your field, anyway. It's like a contractor saying, "Med school was a waste of my time." Not putting down your profession (whatever it is) at all, but just because you didn't need that piece of paper doesn't mean others who want to go into different fields don't.

Those of us who did stick it out and get our degrees and are proud of them do see it as something special and do get upset about it.

My field is Computer Science. I wrote basic to intermediate programs in middle and high school as a hobby. I learned less in class than I had using a few basic programming guides on websites online. I knew guys my age over the internet who were going to smaller schools around the country who were learning topics far ahead of me. CSC at LSU is a terrible, terrible program. I really wish I hadn't wasted my money going there in the first place.

I didn't particularly enjoy most classes outside of my major's core classes either. There are a few exceptions.
