Anybody hunting in Louisiana ever have success with grunt calls? By success I mean actually have a deer respond to the call. Couple coworkers just bought the new extinguisher grunt call and love it fwiw

I called an 8pt in 5 times one morning. They def work but a lot of times you won't even know if you are in the woods. Deer can come in withing 100 yards and circle down wind and if he doesn't get any other indications there is a deer there he'll leave unnoticed

I had a lot of success with grunt call in Woodville MS area. It really only works when rut is on and like FTF says, most of the time you get no response early in the season. But I can tell you the times I've had bucks come in they were in my wheelhouse before I could take the call out of my mouth and raise my rifle.

ETA: If you are hunting anywhere North of Baton Rouge , I would definitely be grunting every so often because when it works it's unbelievably cool. Maybe once series every hour.

Ive had some luck, but like one of the responses below ole buck.cam in hard from about 400 yards across cut over and was within 20 yards when I shot. He pin pointes.the location and I only did one series

I don't even bother with grunt calls but always carry a bleat can. I have used them in LA and MS and they will turn a buck on dime during the rut.
