Not too far from what we have now.
My worry is that the league and colleges will start changing rules to the point it no longer is an enjoyable game to watch. There's a reason nobody likes arena football or rugby on a national scale.
IF, however, they make the players sign releases and contracts not to sue, then i could see your scenario happen.
Also, most kids want to imitate the sports guys they look up to. If they know there's no change at playing football, then popularity could swing to MMA or boxing levels.
