Irony: someone who has never heard of a CMOS circuit telling others that they need to learn how computers work.

Until somewhat recently, most computers had a small battery on the motherboard to store software changed BIOS settings. (before it was exclusively jumpers, now it uses Flash memory).

All computers still have a button battery on the motherboards still as a result of this time though, even though it's not used to maintain save data.

Let me guess, you think information stored in RAM is still there after power is cut too.....

I guess the battery swapping I did in game cartridges that wouldn't save was a dream.
