Reminds me of LSU in the mid 90's under Dinardo.

Clemson has the talent to upset good teams (like we did to Florida in '97).

BUT, doesn't always win the games it's supposed to (see the '97 Ole Miss game the week after the huge Florida upset when LSU choked.)

It took LSU a long time to get used to winning and being highly ranked. Once a team gets used to being highly ranked they don't get the big head as the number next to their name gets smaller. When they don't get the big head they stay grounded and are less likely to get upset.

IMHO

Hmm interesting. Sounds like your 1997 situation resembles our 2004 situation. We went into the Orange Bowl and beat Miami(this is back when Miami was top 10) then the following week lost at Duke. We did finish that year with a 29-7 win over SC but the brawl kept us from a bowl.

Right now West Virginia in style of play and overall success lacking despite high hopes and hype. The fan base was one of the most entitled/arrogant I've ever encountered after their bought championship in the 80's, but they have had to come down a notch or two after being Fla States bitch the last 20 yrs or so. The fans rival the gumps in arrogance with even less success. As for reference, I've lived amongst them

Clemson reminds me of any Conf USA or Sun Belt team. Meaning I don't care and don't want to watch.

Except for the fact that Auburn has won something relevant multiple times in the past decade.
