Laugh it up all you want. No matter what the name is you'd all be bitching or laughing.

New Orleans is all about being unique, offbeat, and incomprehensible to outsiders. This name fits us like a glove.

Is it what we all wanted? No. Could we agree on any name? No.

You know what it is? It's us. It's ours.

I agree. I like Pelicans, the state bird, logo, etc. Love seeing the Pelicans glide of Lake Pontchartrain, very beautiful site.
