I'd definitely hit one of Flays spots....I've had Mesa and Bar American (sp?) both were very good. Pastis is also a solid spot, it's in the meat packing district if I recall correctly (no homo).

we did morimoto in the meat packing district. also not casual and wasn't cheap but was a great experience.
