Because the college game is not the NFL game, where you can be a mediocre team all season long, get hot, and win the super Bowl by virtue of a hot streak at the end like the Giants have done twice. You have to nearly win 'em all.
As such, it's perfectly clear that a program with an easier slate has an easier time getting to the biggest games...the SECCG and the BCSNCG. If that's the goal, than wanting an equitable schedule ought to be your goal. If it's not, and simply seeing entertaining football is more your thing, than that's ok too.
But to suggest we ought to relish in playing the toughest opponents AND expect to play in the SECCG and BCSNCG while our rivals take the easier road is just crazy talk.
