Blade Runner

Hanna

American Psycho
Drive is between Hanna and Blade Runner, imo. I fricking loved Drive. I walked out of that movie totally satisfied, which is more than I can say about the other Winding-Refn films I've seen (Bronson and Valhalla Rising). Like all Winding-Refn films, Drive had an aura about it. It pulsated tension. The simplicity of it made it all the better, imo. The classic "stranger in a strange land" superhero vibe of Gosling's character was intriguing enough to not get much, if anything, on his back story. The stranger falls in love with a forbidden woman. Tragedy strikes. The stranger sacrifices the possibility of living with his love so she may live. Classic storytelling in a unique way.
If you liked Drive, see A History of Violence.
