Not trolling Texas fans, I really don't understand it. Their best team was with a big, athletic running QB but they moved away from that and have a bunch of identical guys that aren't worth a shite
The won the BCS with VY not major applewhite yet they recruit guys like major applewhite and not VY

Doesn't have to be that heisman level but 6'3 to 6'5 athletic QBs are pretty common now

It's who they were left with. You have to understand:
1. They didn't prepare for Young leaving for the draft (chances are high that he would have been academically ineligible in the 2006 season).
2. They missed out on the following Texas quarterbacks:
-Chase Daniel (Missouri)
-Stephen McGee (Texas A&M)
-Matthew Stafford (Georgia)
-Christian Ponder (Florida State)
-Ryan Tannehill (Texas A&M)
-Robert Griffin (Baylor)
-Andrew Luck (Stanford)
-Jameill Showers (Texas A&M)
-Johnny Manziel (Texas A&M)
The top Texas QBs in the 2013 class are BOTH committed to A&M (Kohl Stewart and Kenny Hill)
3. They had their two best quarterback recruits over the last 5 years transfer
Jevan Sneed (Ole Miss)
Garrett Gilbert (SMU)
4. They got lazy, expecting to just walk in to a school and pick who they want.

Really? He's thrown the ball like 50 times total in his career. I don't know if he's any better than Ash or McCoy. I know he shouldn't be mentioned with guys like Stafford, Luck or Griffin as someone Texas "missed out" on.

QB recruiting really went downhill when Perriloux decommitted from them at the last minute.

That is Mack's downfall. Say what you want about miles but he was able to recover from a QB recruiting shite show. Mack just hasn't recovered and the program is stuck in the mud because of it. That is all on Mack's shoulders and is inexcusable in my opinion

he didn't lose out on them. that's the problem. shite, he didn't offer 3/4ths of them. he didnt' offer Griffin as WR, he didnt' offer daniel, he didn't offer manzeil, he didn't offer tannihill, ponder, mcgee..
the only 2 on that list i think he offered were stafford.. they just lost him, and Luck who was always going to Stanford

Daniel, McGee, Stafford, Ponder, Tannehill were all during the time we had one of college football's all-time winningest QBs in Colt.
Griffin - offered to play QB by no one except Baylor, including the all mighty Ags.
Luck - UT picked Gilbert, who was higher rated and supposed to be the second coming; hindsight is 20/20.

Manziel - Congrats, you finally have a Heisman caliber player, albeit one who went 2-2 vs. BCS teams with winning records this year.
Transfers - Snead was beat out by the aforementioned 2-time Heisman finalist McCoy, Gilbert - no need to explain this
