That's what I don't get. Michonne and the governor were both surprised that Rick's group could clear out the whole prison with so few people.

But if you aren't a complete moron in the way you go about it, which even Rick and them were in some instances, it's really easy to do.

There are so many layers of locked doors and gates at the prison, and zombies are slow moving creatures. You can consistently clear one space at a time while leading larger numbers to choke points making them easier to kill.

The governor seems to be realizing his own incompetence and it's not making him happy.

ETA: It really brings about more questions regarding how the governor's men were able to get the drop on the military guys.

its pretty easy when you have the cover and the enemy is in the wideopen. The national guard was focused on the governor and looking for walkers that they overlooked a group of humans that were crawling/creeping up and not stumbling, slow walking and going ahhhhhhhhhhh zombies.
