Like a Monk's in New Orleans?

Camellia Grill is the first thing that comes to mind, but I'm sure you don't want that place.

Fat Hen is a good choice. I'm not sure if they do pies (don't see why they wouldn't), but I've had a slice of cake and coffee at the diner stool part of the restaurant.

Laurel Street Bakery (Uptown) is a great choice for this. You can sit outside too. They have a pretty wide selection of baked goods (apple pie, pecan pie, tarts, almond croissants, pumpkin bread, cookies, etc). Just remember that it's cash and check only.

ETA: Now that I posted that, I am going to definitely hit that place up for a slice and cup of coffee over the break.
