We’ve all heard the names mentioned with certain schools search for a new head coach. Some of the names are current head coaches of teams that can potentially be playing in major bowls, Jimbo Fisher and Charlie Strong.

Can a team in the SEC, namely Auburn and Arkansas (Gruden is a lock already for UT correct??) wait until after the bowl games (FSU and Louisville projected to play on January 1st) to announce their hire? Or would they announce the hiring of one of the head coaches and the head coach not coach in the bowl game? I can see this if it was a lower tier bowl, but to potentially not coach in a BCS bowl should be a major deal. Or would either school perhaps make a quick hire in order to establish the coaching staff and try to keep the recruiting class together?

And would Tuberville not coach a bowl game in order to be hired at Arkansas?

I think it depends on the school hiring and the coach. Some programs are going to realize that it is more important to get the right guy, even if you have to wait a month and suffer recruiting issues for one season.

Some are going to feel slighted and take it personal that a coach won't leave his team high and dry. So, they'll probably hire a worse coach just to get someone early.

And, the same goes for current coaches who will move. Some will stay out of loyalty, some will leave you high and dry.

IMO, it is far more important to make the right hire. The whole idea of "we have to move quick" is ridiculous. Even if you are trying to salvage a #1 recruiting class, it isn't worth it to bring in a guy who you are going to have to replace in 3-5 years.

I think you'll see both scenarios this year.
