The repercussions for bowls in the future (ignoring the media repercussions) would be bad - and the payout for the Cotton is significantly more than what the next in line bowl would be anyway. Not sure the league would even allow a team to pass up a higher paying bowl since money is split. Texas would accept and go play in it.
I for one think it would be a great game to go see and I would be there (hopefully on the field with a pass from a buddy in Dallas). So from that perspective I hope Texas does go to the Cotton Bowl (assuming it's our best option).
