I will probably buy a used one once Mario (Galaxy or whatever the marquee Mario Title is), Zelda and Smash Brothers are all out, and a few Mario Sports games. Mario Strikers, Golf and Tennis FTW
Until then I'm not bothering with that trash.

You really couldn't be more wrong. The game pad is actually what makes this machine shine. I spent more time tinkering with the game pad then actually playing a game yesterday.
I understand some ppl would like to have their inventory displays all the time.
There is a problem with this, if you go into your inventory you will still need to "pause" or stop the game correct?
How is this solving anything? I don't want to ever look down but keep looking up at the screen.
I guess I will have to use one before making final judgment.

While this is true for most of the launch titles, Madden 13 on the Wii U has a really neat Playbook feature allowing you to not just audible at the line of scrimmage but draw the receivers routes pre snap. Call of Duty Black Ops 2 allows for two players to play locally on their game pad instead of splitting one television screen. If developers can focus on features like this then this machine is certainly going places.

But black ops 2 on the other systems allows 2 players to use full screen at the same time if u have a tv that supports dual play

Are you talking about these certain televisions that also require you wear glasses? No thanks if that's the case.

like I said before...these are just gimmicks.
I'm sure that they may come up with some innovative stuff, but at this point that is all they are.

So they are gimmicks just because you said so. Got it.

After playing a Wii U game with very much of the same gimmicks, its easy to see.
I'm beginning to think that Nintendo could throw shite on a stick and you would love it.
I admit that I have a bias against Nintendo, but I did play it and the current application of the Wii U controller and the touch pad is anything but a necessity. Until they can produce a game where the touchpad is a vital and useful part of the game it is nothing more than a gimmick.
To add to my rant, like I said previously, having to switch back and forth from the TV to the touchpad to perform menial little gameplay additions takes away from the flow and immersiveness of the game.

You didn't play it at all.

At least I can admit my bias.

Enough to know. And I have seen enough reviews of launch titles for it to confirm my thoughts.
Glad you enjoy it though

What are you implying? I have my qualms with all three of the major console machines. It's a tad irritating when fanboys like yourself start passing there strong opinion as a fact. Like I stated earlier, the examples I presented were legitimate pros for the game pad that extended well beyond a the definition of gimmick, and by being "anti Nintendo" it's like you got offended and had to respond with "Well, it's still a gimmick"
Like it pained you to see that Nintendo actually improved upon the feature of a game.

That you are biased for Nintendo. You were in the same "Will the Wii U succeed with the current launch lineup" thread defending the same un-launched console that I was saying wouldn't be successful.

There my opinions as much as your thoughts on the system are your opinions. Nothing more.

Your opinion is that they are not gimmicks, my opinion is that those legitimate pros you threw out were still just gimmicks. Its a simple as that. I have seen enough and played enough of the gamepad to have formed an opinion.

Yes...the gimmicks offered by the Wii U controller improve upon the games. That doesn't necessarily make them less of gimmicky. Does using the gamepad as your inventory selector make the game better.....sure. Is it a gimmick...yes it is.

Oh, So I am biased because you saw me posting in one thread. Great detective work.
One day with the machine and I do have several problems with it, but I am not going to just start screaming this is a gimmick, and that is a gimmick, because you know that you really do not have a real argument about the machine. I have stated how developers have managed to not use the game pad as an inventory screen and you just keep shouting "gimmick"
Your fanboy admission is enough to show that it is impossible for you to accept any form of Nintendo success. If Nintendo reinvented the wheel, you would probably rant about how overrated the wheel is.

Whether or not you remember, this was not the first Nintendo thread you and I have gone back and forth in.

All I did was disagree and say those were still gimmicks. Which IMO they are. I also previous said that I'm sure there will be developers who in the future will actually use the gamepad in an innovative way.

And your obvious unadmitted bias will not allow you to accept any criticism of your launch day console purchase. Apparent or not.

I already said that I did have several problems with the Wii U. Nice try though.

something which is not serious
So, you think Nintendo is not serious about their new controller that costs almost as much as the console itself to manufacture?

real value
Define "real" value. If anything, this has much more intrinsic and practical value than anything microsoft and sony have come up with in a decade.

Would you call the latest iteration of a particular smartphone a gimmick?
How about the latest version of an ipad? Would you call that a gimmick?

Is this supposed to be directed at me? Cause I don't think the WiiU is gimmicky. I may not get one, but not because of something as trivial as the gimmick claim.
A gimmick is apple putting the headphone jack on the bottom instead of the top.
