Jim Mora thinks the Saints wil NOT make the playoffs

Now a respected commentator on the state of the NFL, Mora sipped his latte as he repeated the same thing he has told his television audience. The Saints dug a deep hole, losing their first four games, and it will be tough to dig out. "Now, understand, when people ask me who my favorite team is, I always say the Saints," Mora said from his home in Palm Desert, California. "But I don't believe they will make the playoffs." Mora cited a difficult schedule ahead, which includes road games against the New York Giants, Dallas and the revenge-bent Atlanta Falcons. In addition, they play the 49ers, now 6-2-1, and the improving 5-4 Bucs at home. With other games at Oakland and home against Carolina, Mora can't find five wins in those seven games.

"We went 8-8 and made the playoffs in 1990, but it depends on the other teams," Mora said. "The Saints won't catch Atlanta and will have to go in as a wild card. It will be difficult enough for them to go 9-7, and that might not be enough."
Jim Mora Interview
Not that it matters what he thinks. I think we can go 9-7 but I agree that 9-7 will not win a wildcard this year. There could be the possibility of going 10-6 and missing the playoffs (I believe that happen to the bucks in 2010)
I searched but didn't see this posted. Sorry if German.

Seattle will be the 6 seed. Runner up in the North will be the 5. 2 north teams and 2 west teams. At least we will have momentum going into next season.

This. I agree. Unless there is a collapse by one of the teams.

Now that attitude won't get us anywhere.

We would have to run the table to get in. And that is a very low probability with the 33rd ranked defense.

You don't think we can make it at 10-6?

The scenarios would be crazy assuming there will be multiple teams at that record.

With Green Bay, Minnesota, and Seattle each having 6 wins already, it is a possibility we could be left out at 10-6. But anything is possible.

good to see ya back around dirt! If you have been following, there is a good trend around here to fight back against the tards that so often overwhelm the threads.
The 0-4 start took away a giant load of anxiety related to wins, losses, and final record to me. I'm just enjoying the ride wherever it may lead.
For reference-
2008 Patriots 11-5 and missed the playoffs
2010 Seahwaks 7-9 division winner into the playoffs (remember them?)
Nine 8-8 teams have made the playoffs-
1. 2008 Chargers
2. 2006 Giants
3. 2004 Rams
4. 2004 Vikings
5. 1999 Cowboys
6. 1999 Lions
7. 1991 Jets
8. 1990 Saints
9. 1985 Browns

For that to happen, it can only be a result of two things.
1- you are in an abomination o a division (see Seattle 2010).
2- outside of division winners, your entire conference is very weak, giving you a shot at an 8-8 wild card.
- neither is the case for the saints or NFC.

The only stat that counts is Win/Loss.
Last time I checked we won 4 out of 5, with signs of defensive improvements. I agree that it is highly unlikely, but being a fan, I like to enjoy the "playoff hunt" until we are mathematically out.
Football season is too short to write it off before the numbers make me.

Even worse than the London Sillynannies??!
Also I feel like we'll probably be behind Seattle by one win.. the one they got given by the NFL.

Plus, having Drew and Vilma leading these kids makes the crazy dream seem a little more attainable.

How can you say such a thing with so much season to be played out. Seattle can go south in a hurry. So could San Fran.

So Mora is saying that a 4-5 team who is in a four way tie for the ninth worst record in the NFC with the worst total yardage defense, 4th worst scoring defense and tied for the 4th worst scoring defense per game is not going to the playoffs???
He really has lost his mind hasn't he. Don't get too far out on that limb Mora!
