Muschamp held out a few years ago and passed on it. Who knows if Smart would do the same. I would assume he would have some reservations given the power structure and fan expectations at Auburn right now. If he thinks he can overcome those, I suppose he would. I don't know if Auburn would give him autonomy or let him run the program the way he would want to run it, especially as a first year head coach.
He's making enough to get by right now, and I'm sure he knows that if he makes the right decisions, he has the potential to make a ton more in the coming years, be it at Auburn or somewhere else.

I don't know the answer to this, but is he involved in recruiting at Bama? If so, and he has his own ties in the state of Alabama for recruiting, he should take it if they offer it.
He should be able to recruit Alabama/Florida/Georgia fairly easily if he has that as part of his skill set.
