Laser Sights

Are they hard to sight in?
Also, any opinions appreciated. I am going to be getting a 9mm Glock. Stuck between 19 and 26. Don't have a concealed carry permit but may get it later so want the option but worry I may regret the tee tiny Glock.
Only other pistol I have is a .357 Ruger.

no, put the gun in a vice and get a wall about 30 feet away, walk the laser in to where the iron sights meet

Posted on 11/7/12 at 7:20 pm to Geauxtiga

i've always hated glocks, the 26 is no different. i just don't like the ergonomics of them.
there are better striker fire guns out there IMO, the Smith and Wesson M&P being the one i'm most fond of out of the striker fire pistols

I don't know what "striker fire" means.

Rather than a hammer, an internal striker is cocked and released to fire. The striker is cocked by the first motion of the slide, and there is no way to decock other than squeezing the trigger.

Thanks.
When I posted this I thought of you but didn't think the Glock hater would be the one to be so helpful.
Btw, I do like the look of the 1911 better. Thius gun will be to stick in my truck, boat, tractor, etc. Wouldn't want a "nice" gun for that so no offense.

I understand wanting a truck gun, however I just think there are better options. If you haven't held a glock and a M&P side my side do yourself a favor and do so. The ergonomics are miles better on the M&P's

I will and do appreciate the advice.

Yep. And the grip can accommodate different shooters' hand sizes whereas with the Glock you're stuck with the shitty wide grip no matter what you do. The grip angle, sights, and serrations are better on the M&P as well.
Although it's a Glock and you may throw up, here is a cutaway of a striker-fired handgun.
The mechanism is considered "Double Action only" since the action does two things (double) - it retracts the firing pin (#1) and then releases it (#2).
Here is a hammer-fired gun.
The hammer is what strikes the firing pin, causing the firing pin to detonate the primer and work the action. The 1911 is "Single Action only" meaning pulling the trigger does one thing - releases the hammer.
Some hammer-fired guns are DAO and will both retract the hammer (#1) and release the hammer (#2). Some are also double action and single action, like a modern revolver. But the main difference between hammer and striker guns is that the striker is not visible, whereas the hammer is.

Get the fricking gun you want, not the one that some internet message board fig tells you to.

I agree but I also agree with KR suggesting he hold both. Lots of people think the Glock is for them until they hold it.

You talking about me? I didn't tell him what to get.

Did someone say Glock?
Edit: Don't get the laser sight that is the guide rod. It stinks and I have never heard anyone like it. If you are going to CC that pistol, the laser that mounts on the rail in front will greatly limit your CC holster options. That Glock loves to go bang and the holster is a primary safety mechanism for it in my opinion. There is a laser that mounts onto the grip and it would not interfere with the holster options.
For me, I am about to jump off the Glock Bandwagon and go elsewhere. Springfield for CC and I want to make bigger holes now too.
