It's kind of a fair comparison. Bama gets the easier schedule every year, so we have a MUCH thinner margin of error than they do, thus they can win titles as long as they beat us. LSU, not so much. We can get past Bama next year, but we still have to beat UGA and UF. Two of those 3 are on the road. THen, if we manage to beat bama and only lose 1 of the other games, we still have to win the rematch against UF or UGA in the SECCG. The odds are stacked HEAVILY against LSU next year.
how can the rant make BIG noise about this unfairness and jump over aleva/miles and their request to sec.
i love tough schedules, but it does seem unfair.
maybe this can be the subject of the 30 for 30?

Is he a great coach? Yes.
"great coach" is in the eye of the beholder and therefore opinion.
What is fact and not opinion, is that LM has had/is having "great" results of success like no LSU coach who has come before him, national rankings of #5, #3, #1, #17, #8, #2, and currently BCS #7, as well as leading or close to leading the SEC and BCS in wins since 05.
All this done at a time when the SEC rules college football like it never has before.
I'll take my coach having great results and say, "thank you very much, Coach Miles", and others...they can nit-pick this and that all they have a want to.

It is just frustrating that a couple of those wins were VERY, VERY close. Luck if you will. In some, much closer than they should have been. And, in the case of a couple of the loses, should have been wins.
This past Saturday was a winnable game, period. And, Les admitted he wished he could take back some of his decisions.
That is part of my point. And you stated it...he is stubborn. Too stubborn. I get it. That is part of his style.
But when you lose a winnable game...it really hurts!!
LSU has had the talent to win big. The NC was for the taking last year. There was a real shot at it this year. At some point...you have to question the stubbornness and unwillingness to make adjustments.
For the Alabama game, he really surprised me and made some adjustments. But then got it stuck in his head that he needed to make some "Mad Hatter" calls that put the game on the line!

I'm also pissed about the bama game, and I would love to change some decisions. We all want someone to hang. A loss comes with a combination of coaching failures and players not making key plays. That's what we got Saturday night. But people need to slow down and take a breath if they think miles will never beat Saban again. Hell, I'll take LSU at Tuscaloosa next yr. neither team is scared to go on the road. I truly believe that miles coached with some doubt this last Saturday. And based on Mett and our offense through the pre-bama games, I don't blame him. I think miles will coach more straight laced next time. Not saying the hat is gone, just needs to reel it in a little. Hell, leading up to the game, we a talked about flea-flickers, Shepard-cat, Ware cat, Wing fakes, etc. miles now knows he can trust his guys to line up and punch anyone in the mouth. LSU isn't going anywhere, anytime soon. Get ready for several more years of Bowden/Spurrier, Bo/Woody, Switzer/Osborne.

I'm down on Miles because I have witnessed his change in philosophy from "win at all costs" to "play not to lose." I lay the blame on MalVeto, but Miles clearly held a grudge against Lee for the downturn.
Miles' average point demonstrates the shift to what I believe is his current mindset:
'05 - +15.2 ppg
'06 - +21.2
'07 - +18.7
'08 - + 6.0
'09 - + 8.6
'10 - +11.5
'11 - +24.4
'12 - +14.1
Last year started fun. We had the SECs most efficient QB. Few tense moments, but then Miles reverted to his old "just don’t lose" philosophy by switching to JJ.
Pre Bama - +27.8 (+24.3 w/o Def/ST TDs)
Bama to BCS - +19.5 (+13.7 w/o Def/ST TDs)
The Bama game just confirmed my beliefs. He started out balls to the wall, but when it came to put the game away, he put the chokehold on; continuous runs up the middle, prevent defense.
