First, let me say with the stats totally in our favor, we should never ever have lost that game. It is a shame to play so well and lose. Here goes:

1 - Our future NFL DEs could not lay a hand on AJ all night. You can blame this on Bamas O-line holding (which they did over and over). But the truth is the truth, and I said before the game that this was they KEY to the game. Mingo got manhandled and was a non-factor.

2 - We went into a "play-not-to-lose" prevent maximum-cushion defense at the end of each half. That is the only time AJ was effective passing the ball. WHY play balls-to-the-wall aggressive all night and then move to a passive mode of defense. I blame Chief for this.

Amen brother...I cant believe the "prevent defense" is continued in existence since it has been proven over and over and over it doesnt work. It doesnt work here, in the NFL, D-II, D-1, High School, ANYWHERE!! You can dink and dunk your team all the way down the field in less than a minute (se Sat nite, BR)..clock stops in college on first downs!!

Your #2 re prevent defense was proven in both the USCe anf TAMU games. See both of their last drives. We need to rethink that part of the game plan.

I'll give you 3 reasons. Each of Bama's scoring drives. Bama was completely shut down on offense outside of these drives. LSU moved the ball between the 30's all night. FML.

LSU91MBA

I hope you really have an MBA and gainful employment as well. To think these are not valid points shows you are either drinking too much or have a bit of early dementia...

WE could have kicked 3 FGs when we tried trick plays or had stupid penalties.

Prevent was not played well

1000% agree!!! If LSU had a coach like Mack Brown or Gene Chizik, no way this game is close!!

I can't believe that all year, Chavis' defense was just that!! Chavis' defense!! That last drive, it was Miles' defense!!!!! ISN'T IT OBVIOUS Miles had to go conservative in that last drive???!!!

Bama did a great job scheming around our DEs. They pretty much let the DEs rush up field, and had McCarron step up in the pocket, or hand off to Lacy up the middle. And yes, Bama did get away with holding. 1 penalty all game againt Bama? Come on.

We still haven't learned. Bama scored two of their TDs in the last two minutes of each half. The prevent - play 10 yards off the WR shite - needs to go. We ALWAYS end up giving up a TD, same story against South Carolina and A&M. We were confusing McCarron all night with aggressive coverages, I still would like to know what Chavis was thinking after giving up a TD in the final minutes of the previous two games, and giving up a TD in the first half earlier....WHY go to the same defense that has allowed those scores???

I think the prevent shite cost us dearly. We could have won this game 17-7, if Chavis didn't feel the need to move to a prevent type defense in the last minute of each half.

100% agree, especially the Ware sneak. Draw every one of the defenders in the box and them knowing exactly what we are going to do!!! Geez
