In 2011 Oregon held LSU to 273 yards of total offense. The only team LSU played all year that held LSU to less was Bama....which believe it or not was only 30 yards less. Yes....that means Oregon gave up less yards than the 7 other SEC teams that LSU played.
LSU started possession 3 times inside Oregon 20 due to turnovers. Looked bad for the defense but clearly they didn't do nearly as bad as every SEC defense did against LSU aside from the eventual National Champs.
So what does that say when the last 2 times Oregon has played an SEC team their defense managed to perform better against that team than the entire conference did?
Oregon shut down Cam Newton like no SEC could.
Oregon slowed down LSU's offense better than 7 other SEC teams did.
