quote:

Attached to the brief is the email sent by former Saints assistant coach Mike Cerullo that resurrected the NFL’s investigation. In a November 2, 2011 message to NFL spokesman Greg Aiello, Cerullo states as follows: “So I have info on Saints Joe Vitt Lying to your NFL Investigators on Bounties from 2010, along with proof!!! I was there, in the cover up meetings, with players and Joe, I love the NFL and want to work there again, but I am afraid if I tell thge [sic] truth I will never coach again in NFL, But I was fired for a situation that the Saints encourage. All I want is a Job back in the NFL as a QC Coach anywhere, so If talking to you jepodizes [sic] that I will have to get back to you, but The Saints are a Dirty Organization. Contact me.”

The message contains proof of Cerullo’s alleged bias against Vitt. As alleged by Vilma earlier in this process, Cerullo had vowed revenge against Vitt for firing Cerullo. Separately, Cerullo’s zeal to return to the NFL calls into question everything he says. Also, Cerullo’s reference to being fired “for a situation that the Saints encourage” requires that claim to be explored and compared to the stated and actual reasons for his termination, in order to properly evaluate Cerullo’s overall perspective and mindset.

The email is attached to a new declaration from Vilma’s lawyer, Peter Ginsberg, who explains that the email was produced by the NFL on October 23, 2012. Ginsberg contends that the NFL completely removed Aiello’s response.

I like how he randomly capitalizes words. That also helps his credibility.

Serious question, how can the NFL, with a straight face, act like this guy is credible and take his word for it... but at the same time, act like the multiple affidavits from other players/coaches are meaningless?

Let's not focus on the grammar. The content of the email shows that he's not credible. The guy is begging to get into the league and blames his firing not on his flakiness or anything but on knowing about "bounties".

But think about this for a minute: why would the Saints fire a guy for knowing about bounties? Wouldn't they think that he'd immediately run to the press or Goodell with such information?

Additionally, consider that Benson hasn't fired Payton or Loomis or Vitt in the wake of this scandal. If Cerullo's telling the truth, then why hasn't Benson acted on those things?

My thoughts exactly. The credibility of the NFL should go down if this is the whistle blower for them. You have a butt hurt ex-employee wanting to get back at his former boss. If they can't see that then they should be in charge of a billion dollar industry. The more info that comes out the worse it looks on them, not the players.

All he wants is a new job. If he can't get one then he won't talk. If he loved the NFL soo much he would talk no matter what. He is such a tool and da rog is even worse for listening to this.

I think Roger thought that he would bring the hammer down and a "simple minded athlete" would just go sit in a corner and cry like a child. He obviously didn't bargain for the retaliation that Vilma has produced.

What he thought was a simple minded athlete has proved to be a very intelligent person who's pride in himself and his team won't allow him to tuck his tail and disappear.

They are trying to destroy him, and I for one have tons of respect for Vilma for going nose to nose with the higher power and showing that he can't be pushed around without a fight.

GO VILMA!!!

Goodell recusing himself was the first major crack in the shield since this began. I like how Ginsberg & Vilma are keeping up the pressure. When they do, things happen.

+1

It helps he's got a really good lawyer too.

As I pointed out to one of the simpletons on the PFT page, Vilma was a three time Academic All Conference player in the Big East and holds a Finance degree from Miami.

He's not some "dumb jock".

Why would he think that? They fought him on Star Caps and the head of the union is new and just got his arse handed to him in CBA negotiations so of course the players were always going to fight back. I think the arrogance comes from thinking they are 100% protected from the courts by the CBA, not that they thought the players would roll over.

Will these juicy details ever get to the MSM or ESPN's ??

This guy's email is down right childish. I really pray that Goodell's reign will come to an end over this. It is unbeleivable that the Saints organization has had to endure all this chit.

They ruined our season to win a superbowl at home.
