Actually, Wing's stats are not too different from last year. Right now he is ranked 13th in the nation, with an average of 44.1 yards per punt. (The leader has 47.94 YPP.) Last year, he finished the season in 11th place, with an average of 44.37 PP, while the leader averaged 47.04 YPP. Doesn't look like much of a "sophomore slump" to me. In fact, if you take out those two bad punts against SC, he would probably be ahead of last year's average.

The lingering effects of that leg injury might be affecting his accuracy and his touch (and maybe his hang time). He certainly hasn't had as many punts drop in at the 5-10 yd. line as we saw last season. But this also just might be just the law of averages catching up to him a bit.

How about the fact that his two gunners TM7 and Cooper are gone. You know how many balls those guys caught in the 10 yard to goal line area. We have not caught a single one this year. Makes a huge difference in pinning them in.
